About Maplewood

Beginning in the 1950s, Maplewood changed from rural farmsteads to suburban neighborhoods. The Gateway State Trail and the Bruce Vento Regional Trail meet in the city, and Maplewood runs the Maplewood Nature Center as one of its parks. Maplewood Mall is in the city, and School District 622 serves Maplewood along with neighboring communities.

Rental licensing in Maplewood

Rental license required

Maplewood requires a rental license before a tenant moves in, unless an exemption applies, and licenses renew every year. Getting a license takes an owner background check (repeated every three years) and an on-site inspection; after that, homes are inspected every one, two or three years depending on condition and history.

For the homes we manage, we take care of the city's licensing or registration steps and keep owners compliant as the rules change.

Rate lock: Sign a management agreement by December 31, 2026, and your monthly management fee for that home ($99 for your first home, $79 for each additional home) won't go up for as long as that agreement stays in effect. A vacancy doesn't end it. Cancelling the agreement or selling the home does.
